Well-known Kwaito artist Sibusiso “S’bu MaLawyer” Ntshangase is celebrating a 25 year milestone as a solo artists milestone and he’s doing it in Soweto with a show that honours both the past and the future of South African music.
The celebration will take place on 2 August 2025 at the Eyethu Lifestyle Centre, and he says the event is also about giving back to the community and opening doors for new artists.
“When I started, other legends helped me. Now it’s my turn to help others. I’m happy that I could gather all the legends in one space, but also bring upcoming artists so they can shine too,” S’bu MaLawyer told SABC News.
The Kwaito star, who rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like Amalawyer and Mzala, has worked with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Chicco Twala, Mdu Masilela, and TKZee. He recently re-released Amalawyer as an Amapiano track, proving he still moves with the times.

But S’bu says the show is about more than music. It also celebrates 30,years of Kwaito a genre that gave voice to township youth and South Africa’s new democracy.
“This event is about embracing and making people aware of where Kwaito comes from. I look at myself as an artist and a businessman now someone who recognises other talents, not just legends, but the younger ones too,” he said.
The event will feature performances from Kwaito greats and emerging talent, as well as community-focused initiatives.
“I can see people are excited. They’ve supported me from day one. I’m smooth because of the people. If it’s not people, I’m nothing,” S’bu added.
Ntshangase, who grew up in Soweto & KZN, says the show will be a day of celebration, culture, and unity.
